Description
Finally, a low-cost, professional solution to achieving nice, straight fret slots!
This miter box kit was designed by Ben "C. B. Gitty" Baker specifically to make it easy to cut nice, straight slots in your 1 1/2" wide cigar box guitar necks and fretboards! It was designed specifically to work with our own fretting saw, but you can use it with other thin-kerf saws as well. This miter box is laser-cut from 1/4" birch plywood and will stand up to long use if treated with care. Openings on the sides allow you to see how deep of a slot you have cut.
This miter box comes as a 3-piece kit, simply insert the tabs on the side pieces into the holes in the base piece, squirt in a little glue, and you're good to go. Two mounting holes for screwing the miter box to a workbench or larger board are also included.
This miter box is designed specifically to work with 3/4" thick necks and 1/4" thick fretboards that are 1 1/2" wide or narrower (the most popular size used on cigar box guitars). It will not work with any neck/fretboard over 1 1/2" in width. It can handle stock up to about 1 1/8" thick, though the slot depth windows don't extend up that far.
Listing photos that show the fretting saw are for reference only... but if you need the saw too check out the listing for it - you save a dollar if you buy the saw and miter box together!
