"Legend of the Hobo Fiddle" Printed Wooden Cigar Box

These unfinished cigar boxes bear original artwork celebrating the Legend of the Hobo Fiddle, the homemade instrument creation invented by Ben "Gitty" Baker. The central steam locomotive artwork is a sketch by Farley Andresen, and Ben Gitty laid out the rest of the design, creating a beautifully unique box you can use to build your own Hobo Fiddle! 

These boxes are printed with our "Vivigraphic" Method: this is a photo-resolution printing process using highly durable UV-cured inks that renders a precise reproduction of the image (with wood grain showing through any white areas). The basic model is printed with black ink directly onto the bare wood, and can be stained and otherwise finished. The cherry burst and tobacco burst varieties have the top panel fully covered with the UV ink and will not absorb stain very well if at all. All three designs have ~1/4-inch borders on the left and right of the printed image (the tops of the box's side panels).

These boxes are 8.5 inches wide by 6.4 inches wide by 2.7 inches deep, and are constructed with pine sides and plywood top and bottom, with brass-plated hinges and clasp. The tops are about 0.22-inch thick for nice bright acoustic tone that sounds great with the nylon strings Hobo Fiddles are supposed to have. The bottoms are about 3mm thick. These sides of these boxes (and the top of the basic model) can be stained and finished if desired with great effects.
