BONUS VIDEO - HOW TO MOD YOUR FRETBOARD AND ADD ART!!!

These clear acrylic fretboards are laser-engraved with fret markings for a 23-inch scale lap steels and 25-inch scale cigar box guitars (choose your preference before adding to cart). The lap steel version was designed for use on our 2x4 Lap Steel kit. Just butt the top edge up against the nut and use small screws (like these) to screw it down. This piece is 1/8" clear acrylic (peel off the film to expose the clear plastic), and measures 2.75" wide by 17.5" long. Be gentle and do not bend these pieces. We also offer decorative underlays for these fretboards, available here.

Please Note for LAP STEEL VERSION ONLY: The fretboard has been shortened by 1/8" at the first fret, to accommodate for the thickness of the wooden nut. You will need to take this into account if using on a different lap steel build.

The Cigar Box Guitar version is laser-engraved with fret markings for a 25-inch scale, they were designed for use on Cigar Box Guitars with the typical 1 1/2" wide neck. Just put the top edge up against the nut and use the ten (10) small flat-head screws (included) to screw it down. This piece is 1/8" thick clear acrylic (peel off the blue film to expose the clear plastic), and measures 1 7/16" wide by 16 7/8" long. Be gentle and do not bend these pieces too much, or they will break.

If you keep the action on your CBG low enough, you can even press the strings right down to the acrylic surface and play notes without a slide. This is in the tradition of the fretless Cumberland banjos that have been a part of Appalachian music for many years.
