Hard-tail Bridges for Cigar Box Guitars & More - Choose Strings, Color and Saddle Style

Hard-tail bridges have become a very popular option for cigar box guitar builders, and we have a wide range of varieties available! These are perfect for 3-string and 4-string cigar box guitars and other instruments.

All of these bridges are "top-loading" style, which means that the strings are fed through the back plate of the bridge, then up and over the saddles. No drilling through the instrument/box is required! Some also have holes through the plate for "bottom-loading".

The dimensions of these bridges vary depending on the number of strings they are designed for. Three-string varieties are 1 31/32" (50mm) wide, 1 5/8" (41mm) deep and about 9/16" (14mm) tall. Spacing between strings is 12mm (0.472", just under 1/2") with total distance from string 1 to string 3 being 24mm or 0.945" - just under 1 inch. Four string varieties are 2 3/8" (60mm) wide, 1 5/8" (41mm) deep and about 9/16" (14mm) tall. These bridges are mounted securely using four supplied screws, and a small allen wrench is also included for adjusting the small set screws that control string action height. Some builders feel that "roller-style" saddles give less wear on the strings (as they are not rubbing across the v-saddle), especially when using whammy bars and the like.
