Description
This premium JESCAR stainless steel fret wire is both beautiful and extremely durable, a perfect finishing touch for your special build or re-fretting job! Stainless Steel is just about the hardest type of fretwire you can get, and people who use it say it gives a silkier, smoother feel when playing than does nickel-silver fret wire.
This wire set comes in six (8) 8" straight lengths. The size of this wire is one of the smallest ones out there, what I call narrow/extra-low - see the exact specs below. This wire will fit nicely into a .023" fret slot, which is pretty much the standard for most modern fret wires.
I also include a 2-page sheet of fretting "do's and don'ts" to help the first-time fretter get started, at no extra charge!
Can be used on mandolins, mando-banjos, smaller dulcimers, ukeleles, cigar box guitars/strumsticks and various other small fretted stringed instruments. The 8-inch lengths allow you to easily cut the exact lengths you need. Stainless Steel fret wire does take more attention to detail than standard nickel-silver fret wire, and is not necessarily the best choice for the first-time fretter. See my other fret wire offerings for more "friendly" fret wire options.
Here are the technical specs on this fret wire (see the photo diagram for more info):
Total Fret Height: .079" (2.00mm) Crown Height: .039" (1.00mm) Crown Width: .040" (1.02mm) Tang Width .020" (.510mm)
A slot width of .023" is recommended for this fret wire, but somewhat wider may work if you use glue to set the frets in. Be sure to measure the width, height and tang depth/width of your current frets before buying, to make sure this set will fit your intended usage!
